How it works

PV SIMULATOR is an advanced simulator of the operation of photovoltaic modules intended for research and testing the operation of solar inverters.

The device can simulate the operation of the modules using the I-V curve, which is the basic parameter characterizing the operation of the photovoltaic module, using the programmable open-circuit voltage VOC and short-circuit current ISC, according to the requirements of various inverters.

The system software allows you to simulate the characteristics of different solar panels by changing the fill factor, programming maximum power points, VMPP and IMPP, to reflect the characteristics of different photovoltaic modules.

The main parameters required to perform the simulation are the open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current, and the program is standardly defined for 25°C and a radiation intensity of 1000 W/m² so that the initially calculated I-V curve is created in relation to a standard photovoltaic cell.

The slope of the I-V curve is then modified by the peak power parameters VMPP and IMPP, these changes allow for a wide shaping of the curve slope in the duty cycle range from 0.5 to 0.95.

After modeling the I-V curve, we can repeatedly change the level of sunlight and temperature in any way so as to examine the behavior of the inverter connected to the power grid in the conditions in which it will have to work when the photovoltaic modules are shaded by clouds or when the temperature changes.

Ultimately, long-term testing of the inverter will allow you to calculate the potential value of the energy produced.
